11:50am: An Update
I posted this in my myspace blog on 31 January, but forgot to post it here. I always post in both places, but I seem to be on myspace more than lj lately.

I guess it's about time I posted another blog.

To catch up a bit...Christmas was great, for the most part. It seems like in the blink of an eye, it was over. I was sad to see the decorations come down. New years was pretty neat. Steve and I opted to stay home and we managed to stay awake the whole night. We brought up a countdown on the computer and did a little "Happy New Year dance" when it got to the new year (you just had to be there, but trust me, it was funny). Then we went outside and watched all the fireworks around the neighborhood and surrounding area. You can see quite a bit from up here on the hill. Dixie decided she wasn't interested, and stayed inside all night. But DJ was running all around the backyard trying to figure out what all the commotion was about. He's special. That's why when he acts retarded (which is most of the time) I refer to him as Steve's dog.

Fast forward to a week or so ago....

We got snow! The last time Alabama got any kind of snow to speak of, it was I believe in 2002? 2004? I don't remember for sure, but the point is....it was when we were living somewhere else. Therefore we missed it. So the last snow I remember in Alabama was the blizzard of 93. But the last snow I've been in was Feb. of 06 in Gatlinburg. 7 inches worth! Anyways, I thought the powers that be had forgotten that this is Alabama when I saw how much snow fell. Maybe they finally heard all of my bitching and moaning about how the weather has been far too warm for my taste. So, thankyou powers that be.

Now fast forward to this past Monday.

I decided to go out on the lake with Steve. Something I rarely do anymore because he stays too dang long for my taste. (Sorry Bno....but 6 or so hours is to long). Anyways, I decided to go this time because it was later in the day so I knew he wouldn't stay long.
So here we are floating around at one of Steve's fav. fishing spots, and I hear this crazy splashing ever so often. It turned out to be a duck (of some sort) who was jumping up out of the water like something was nipping at his feet. We were laughing at him, because, well, it was funny. Then one of the times he jumped, I noticed something bright green/yellow attached to his foot. I told Steve that I thought he may be hung on a rope. So we floated on over to see if we could free him, but he went under the water because he was scared. Then we backed away to see if he'd come back up, but he never did. By this time, I'm pretty much heartbroken because I just knew he had gotten hung under the water and was going to drown. But after about 5 minutes, he popped back up! So we try once again to get him. Steve managed to scoop him up in the net and bring him to the boat. We found he was actually stuck on some weeds, which had some fishing line attached to them, then wrapped around his foot. So I pulled the weeds out from the water and Steve laid him on the boat. We found where the fishing line was wrapped around his foot (and it was wrapped a LOT, and pretty tight) so Steve cut it off with his knife...which took a little bit because it was wrapped so tight and his feet were so little. We were surprised that he didn't try to fight to get out of the net or out of the boat. We figured he was tired from fighting to get loose and had pretty much given up. So we got him free then set the net down in the water and let him swim off. He didn't seem any worse for the wear, so I hope the little guy turned out to be ok.
Steve thought he may have been a loon, so I looked it up when we got home, and he was actually an American Coot. He was a cute little thing!

So I guess that's all for now. Just thought I'd update the blog a bit from the last time.

7:43am: Dear Pike County Sheriff's Office.........
You have got to be the biggest bunch of disrespectful, rude assholes I've ever had the displeasure of coming across. You should appreciate any help another LEO is willing to offer. Not tell him to back off because he's not in his own county. He's wearing the badge too....show some damn respect. And there was no reason for the "handle your own" comment when there was nothing to handle. Marbury showed some class and walked off the field while your idiots came over and tried to start some shit. A deputy from another county was the LEAST of your worries at that moment you dumbass. Did you not see how many football players you had coming at you? Did you not see how another person helping out was a GOOD idea?! And did you not see the Marbury players walking off the field? There was no "handling" to be done by Steve. They were not the ones starting shit on the field. And after all was said and done, you wouldn't even acknowledge the fact that Steve wanted to talk to you about what happened. Again you told him, "you're not in Autauga County". What kind of a man are you? And what kind of a deputy are you? So not only did you make a scene on the field, and everyone saw it....you totally disrespected another LEO who was there to offer help when your guys were acting like a bunch of moronic assholes. You're no better than they are and I have no respect for you or the Pike County S.O. I saw you jump in your car and leave when the clock hit 0:00. People hadn't even started filing out of the stands good and you all tucked your tails and ran like a dog that had just been scolded. You sorry assholes. You can all kiss my ass. If anyone would like to call and complain about what happened (because EVERYone was talking about it in the stands and after the game) then please do. I'm sure it won't do much good, but at least they will know that we didn't appreciate the bullshit that happened and the disrespect given to one of our deputies. Give Sheriff Russell Thomas a call at 334-566-4347.

The same thing happened with the Pike County coach. He also told Steve to back off because he was not in Autauga County. He also should have appreciated the help when his players were acting like idiots. Control your animals Coach Wayne Grant. His email address is pgrant@pikecountyschools.com. You can shoot him an email and tell him how much we didn't appreciated the way he treated Steve.

Assholes. All of you.

9:05am: Geonerds
It's been a while since I've posted anything, so I thought I'd update the good ol' journal today.

First off...Happy Fall! Today is the official first day and I brought out the fall decorations yesterday (just couldn't wait that one more day hahah). I've had my fall tree decorated for a few days now though. All I have left to do is the outside, but I need to find some bales of hay before I can start all that.

Football season is in full force, and I'm glad! I love football season and both of my teams (Marbury and Alabama) are doing well this year. I've been able to go to two Marbury games, but I'm hoping to go to more before the season is over. I would love to go to an Alabama game, or at least go tailgate, but I don't know if that'll be happening this season. The Marbury cheerleaders are much better than they were last year, as far as not practicing on the field, staying in line and not wandering around on the sideline, and being together in the cheers. There's a few things here and there that could use improvement, but not much I can do about it. I was REALLY happy to see that there's finally a male cheerleader! I wanted male cheerleaders on my squad so bad, but the powers that be wouldn't hear of it. Never could figure out why. I remember in the gym one day during our last period, Varsity Athletics, I had one of the football players base a basket toss with me. It was so cool because we got our flyer WAY up in the air! I loved it, but never could get my male cheerleaders.

The weather is trying to cool off some. At least it's not in the 100s, but it's still hoovering around the high 80s (which is still too warm for me). Nights are cooler though, but that really doesn't help me out any. COME ON WINTER! I keep saying I'm going to move to Maine.

Steve and I have started geocaching! (www.geocaching.com) My loving and caring brother called me a nerd. He means well. haha We've been having a great time, but it's a little harder without a GPS. We just go by the clues given on the website. So far we've found five, and hopefully we'll be heading out this Wed. or Thurs. to find more. There's one that's driving us crazy because we've been twice to try to find it and haven't yet. It's in Spinner's Park and you're supposed to go at night. We were all around Spinner's Park the other night with flashlights and I'm surprised we didn't have any of Prattville's finest out there asking what we were doing.

I guess that's it for now. I need to go feed the pups and get a few things done. If I think of anything I missed, I'll come back and add to this entry.

10:21am: Rottweilers. You know, those mean dogs.
Taken from http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/cop/

I'm surrounded by goobers

By STEVE ROSE | Tuesday, September 4, 2007, 10:54 AM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

There's something in the kudzu, folks.

Normally semi-intelligent people are taking a left turn into Dumbo-land. You can't even find a haven at home without some nitwit shooting their mouth off without doing their homework—hence one of the neighborhood Bozoettes walking her dog, the same one that gets out and runs up to you on the street which, by the way doesn't bother me at all.

The same nitwit, walking her dog, comes face to face with Roxy the Rottweiler. Of course, Rottweilers are Satan's best friend and known to be affiliated with Al Qaeda and several other organizations, all bad ones. Roxy happens to be an 85- pound Rottweiler who's just here for the beer. We took her from a rescue group and she has become a pretty mellow dog. She's inside the fence but every once in while we brush her outside and she likes to run in circles and then back towards the front door because she thinks she's entitled to our bed.

Well, she was on the first lap when Ms. Bozoette came up the hill and saw her. Now she justifies her actions here, based on her husband's extensive background of medical service and his horrific Rottweiler tales of how Rottweilers have torn apart the limbs of the humans in their attempt to dominate the world. After all, we all know that Rottweilers have been involved in everything from the failed Bay of Pigs invasion to the entrapment of Larry Craig, who was caught in a little "Tearoom Trade" a while back.

Although Triumph the Insult Dog is said to be a Yugoslavian Mountain Hound, he looks very similar to a Rottweiler and probably consults them. Thus the Axis of Evil connection.

As the neighborhood Bozoette passed by our house and offered her less-than-two-cent opinion, Detective Sandy and I politely offered our opposing view and something about the horse she rode in on. The fact is, we saw the dog and took offense to her embellished-to-the-point-of-fiction fairly tale. She waddled off visibly upset that she got more than she bargained for in return. Apparently she's used to dishing out cheap shots without a return.

Guilt by association is a theory of an ignorant person, even when it involves dogs. In my 31-plus years in law enforcement, I can't recall working a bite case involving a Rottweiler. Sure it's happened, but to be honest with you. I'm more leery of fools with big mouths than I am of dogs.

She should feel lucky we didn't have the Shih Tzu out there. She'll bite you and then steal $40 from your wallet.

9:13pm: Beam Me Up, Scotty!
I watched the International Space Station go over the house tonight! That was one of the coolest things I've seen in quite a while. I heard on the news tonight that it would be visible at 8:18 pm, and it would look like a bright star moving across the sky from the southwest. So around 8:14 I went outside on the back deck and started looking. I thought I saw something that may have been it, but it was more towards the south and didn't appear to be moving. Then at one point I thought maybe it was moving. Then I was just confused and didn't know what the heck I was looking for. I'm sure my dogs were wondering what in the world I was doing. Then from the southwest (it was the TRUE southwest) about 4 minutes later I saw this really bright white/red looking star thingy come from out of the clouds and move across the sky towards the house. It then went over the house towards the front and on about it's merry way. I watched till I couldn't see it any longer then went out to the front of the house to see if I could catch a glimpse of it again, but it was already out of sight. It looked to be traveling northeast? I think. That was just REALLY really cool to watch. I hope some of you got to see it.

9:39pm: Can I Have Some Fishy Crackers?
Steve and I went with some family members to see Menopause The Musical a couple of weeks ago. If you haven't seen it, grab some girlfriends and go! It was HILARIOUS.

I saw something the other day that reminded me of us. It said "My husband and I are trying to decide between getting a dog or having a child. We don't know if we want to ruin our carpet or ruin our lives".
Yep. My thoughts exactly. Except we've made up our minds what we want to ruin...and it's obvious by the two lovely Rottweilers on our back deck. I guess we're just too selfish of our time together. And that's multiplied by the fact that we don't get a WHOLE lot of time together, since he works nights.

We haven't been noodling in two weeks. I think I'm having withdrawls.

I''m trying to come across another aluminum christmas tree. This time for my mama. I know....ebay. That's where I got mine. But they are going for a LOT of money on there. So if anybody knows where I can get my hands on one in good condition (WITH the pom pom ends), for about $50 or less...let me know.

Wow. I guess I didn't really have a whole lot to talk about this time! Oh well. :)

9:23pm: A Small Update
Wow. It's been quite a while since I've posted anything.

Let's see...Steve and I just had our six year anniversary. I can't believe it's been six years since we got married. And also six years since I moved to Turkey with him. Times flies...

I see that I haven't posted anything since Steve graduated from the academy. He graduated from the Jefferson County Reserve Academy on 15 April. Then that night we had a get-together with some of my family, some of his, and some of the deputies. It was fun. We decorated the party house (my daddy's shop) and I think it really turned out cute! (I'm sure he wouldn't want it to be called "cute", but it was!)

We've gone to a couple of Biscuits games in the past month or so. Had a blast, as always. Steve got me an adorable little stuffed biscuit, complete with a pat of butter as his tongue. I saw him and just had to have it! haha

I'm hoping Steve gets moved to day shift soon. He's been on nights ever since he started back in Dec. and it's getting pretty old. We don't get to spend nearly enough time together. There's rumors flying and people telling him just to hold on a little longer.

We've started back noodling! Now, for those of you that have no idea what I'm talking about, don't go looking up "noodling" online, because that's not really what we're doing. It's actually jug fishing by another name...and type of "jug". We use those foam pool noodles instead of jugs. We started doing it last year and have finally started back up again this year. We have SO much fun out there. Last year our largest number in one day was 18. So we have a record to beat this year.

I guess I'm rambling because there's not really a whole lot to write about for now. I just thought I'd pop in here and post a bit for the heck of it. I'm getting sleepy and I have a headache, so I will probably be retiring to the bed in a few minutes.

8:23pm: My Kind Of Weather!
I can't BELIEVE this weather! Near 90s one week, and now it's freezing! I'm LOVING it!!! I wish I knew what I did to deserve this weather, because I'd do it more often! Then again, I do feel bad for Steve because he's out in it.

Speaking of... Steve and I were right in the middle of it Thursday night, like two people who had lost their minds! Our local baseball team, the Montgomery Biscuits, had their opening night Thursday. Instead of going to the game, we decided to do something that we did last year. We took the boat down the river (the stadium sits right on the Alabama river) and watched the fireworks after the game from the water. Of course, last year when we did it, the weather was much warmer. This time, I had warm clothes on AND a blanket from head to toe and was STILL freezing while we were moving. Sitting still was ok though. We laughed at how the people who saw us out there were probably thinking...look at those idiots haha! It was fun though. An adventure. Never a dull moment in the Adams household.

I can't believe it's been three weeks since my birthday. I'm on the downside of 30 now. Not a pleasant thought,....I'd like to go backwards, but oh well.

Steve graduates from the academy in eight days! I'm so proud of him. It's been a long year, but he made it! The ceremony is the afternoon of the 15th, then we're having a party that night. I love party planning. I've always thought I'd love to have a career in party/wedding planning, but that's not something where you can just go turn in your application and resume' and get an interview the next day.

The Easter bunny has a new look this year...in the form of my husband. Steve directs traffic at the local Elementary school and wanted to wear bunny ears this week for Easter. So I got him some and then Friday we found a tail to go with it. So naturally, I had to go take pictures... )

8:14pm: Random Thoughts
Ok, so I'm bored. So this is another one of my famous "Random Thoughts" posts.

First of all, I have finally found a makeup that I love and will stick with. It's Maybelline Superstay Silky foundation. I have tried Cover Girl, Revlon Color Stay, and Rimmel. They all had their good points and bad points, but I was looking for something that would stay on longer than Cover Girl, not as heavy feeling as Revlon, and not smudge off as easy as Rimmel. So while in the BX the other day, I was looking over some different things and finally decided on the Maybelline. I *love* it! It stays on, it's light on my face and it's REALLY smooth and silky. (Ok, I'm starting to sound like a commercial.)

On to another subject. I've started a Smoky Mountains messageboard. There's not too many out there aside from Myspace groups and Live Journal communities, so I figured, why not? Of course, right now there's only two registered members, so who knows if and when it'll really get going. I'm hoping it will though, because that's one of my favorite subjects to talk about! If any of you are interested, the URL is:
http:// thesmokies. 21. forumer. com/ index. php
without the spaces.

Why does Australia's Next Top Model look like a low-budget version of America's Next Top Model? I've only caught snippets of it here and there, but I've seen most all of the cycles of America's NTM and the two don't really compare. Of course, maybe they're not MEANT to be compared, but Australia's NTM just looks cheaply done. Just my opinion.

I want Rhonda Vincent's album "All American Bluegrass Girl" (I think that's the name of it). There's a song on there she does with Dolly and I LOVE it. I'm listening to it right now via Myspace music. It makes me want to dance, and I haven't clogged in YEARS, and my interest in it hasn't really been all that strong like it was back then. But there's something about her music.....
I have a cd single of hers with two of her songs. I need to dig that out of the massive collection of cds we have here.

Tracy Lawrence has a new cd out! How did I not know about this before? It came out in January. I must get my hands on it! He's always been my fav. country singer, right up there with George Strait.

I made a St. Patrick's Day tree. I decided that this year I would use our small Christmas tree to decorate different each month. I started in February (since I still had the Christmas stuff up in January) with a Valentine's Day tree, and now I have a St. Patrick's Day tree. Next month will be Easter. I've always said that I wanted to do this, now I'm finally doing it. They're so cute. I have a picture of the Vday tree on my slideshow on Myspace. I need to add the St. Patrick's Day one. Maybe I'll do that now.

Guess that's all for my random-thoughts-due-to-boredness blog.

8:40pm: Dance Like A Dervish
Last Thursday night, Steve and I went to see the Whirling Dervishes of Rumi at the Davis Theatre in Montgomery. Instead of trying to explain Whirling Dervishes, I'll provide you with this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whirling_dervish

Anyways, I read in the local newspaper that day that they would be here that night. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of advertisement about them until that day when we saw a few commercials on tv. So we decided that afternoon that we'd go. We always wanted to see the Whirling Dervishes while we lived in Turkey, but we just never had the chance. So here was our chance to finally see them. And I'm glad we went. That was really one of the most amazing things I've seen in a while. It was really cool to watch. Especially with all of the colored lights they used.

I made a St. Patrick's Day tree! Boy, talk about jumping from one subject to another. Anyways, at the end of January, I set up our small (bout 3 or so ft.)christmas tree on a plant stand in the living room and decorated it for Valentine's Day. Then, about a week ago I changed it over to St. Patrick's Day. I've always wanted to do a different tree each month of the year for the different holidays, so I'm finally doing it. Next month will be Easter. I'm loving it! :)

So, I guess that's about all to this entry. I'll write more later is something interesting comes to mind. And if not, then, well, that's all folks!

7:30am: A Rottweiler In Need
No, not one of mine. Although DJ does make me want to smack him on his head sometime

I made the mistake of looking at petfinder.com yesterday morning when I was bored. I started off looking at English Bulldogs because I'm REALLY wanting one and have for years, then I ended up looking at Rottweilers. I came across this in one in Georgia and it breaks my heart to know he could be put down at any time.

http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=7787481

I've been looking for a rescue or shelter around the area of where he's located to see if they can go get him. *I* would go get him, but we already have two. Anyways, I found two places last night to write and ask and one wrote me back this morning:

YOU HAVE a great Heart But We can't save them all.

It majorly dissappoints me to see them reply with that. They're right, we can't save them all. BUT WE CAN SAVE THIS ONE, ya know? Anyways, there's gotta be someone out there that's wanting this dog. I wrote the shelter where he is and asked them if he had been put down, but I haven't had a response yet. I hate the heartless bastards that do things such as that. The dog has done nothing, he just hasn't found his home yet.

Anyways, I could go on and on about this subject, but I'll just say, if ANYONE out there wants this dog (and I can tell you they are a great breed!) and can make the trip to Georgia, DO IT NOW. Go get him before his life ends for no good reason.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
And no, I'm not putting the picture behind a cut just so your friends page will look better. If you get pissed at me for that, I'm sorry, but this dog's life is more important to me than how your journal looks at the moment.
